BellyBuilders - Privacy policy

This policy explains in detail how "BellyBuilders" along with its affiliated companies (hereinafter "we", "us", "our", "BellyBuilders", "http://www.bellybuilders.com/messageboard") use any information collected during any session of usage by you (hereinafter "your information").

Your information is collected in several ways:
  • IP access logs
  • Cookies
  • Content you explicitly submit

When you visit "BellyBuilders", the site software which serves your request for this site logs your IP address, which page you requested and issues you with several cookies. Cookies are small text files that are downloaded on to your computer’s web browser and may be deleted at any time by you (however, they will be recreated on subsequent visits). The cookies generated by "BellyBuilders" serve the following purposes:
  • User identification - so the site software can tell you apart from someone else (so you're not entering your username and password at every step)
  • Session identification - as well as assisting with the above, the session cookies allow for chatroom management and clickstream logging functions to be undertaken
  • Topic visitation tracking - tracks which topics you have and haven't read, so the messageboard can appropriately colour the threads as read or unread for you
Collection of this information is generally passive in that unless you explicitly take steps to block it, it will be collected. Blocking the use of cookies will inhibit your ability to use the site, but as stated you may choose to wipe cookies after your session is complete.

The other way in which we collect your information is by what you explicitly submit to us. This can be, and is not limited to: posting as an anonymous user (hereinafter "anonymous posts"), registering on "BellyBuilders" (hereinafter "your account") and posts submitted by you after registration and whilst logged in (hereinafter "your posts"). Generally speaking, private messages are considered private communication between sender and recipient(s) however in the event of a complaint or suspicion of abuse (including such things as, but not limited to, unusual numbers of bounced emails generated by a given user or reports of abuse from another board user), all relevant content on the system may be reviewed in determining a course of action.

Your account will at a bare minimum contain a uniquely identifiable name (hereinafter "your user name"), a personal password used for logging into your account (hereinafter "your password") and a personal, valid e-mail address (hereinafter "your e-mail"). Any information beyond your user name, your password, and your e-mail address required by "BellyBuilders" during the registration process is either mandatory or optional, at the discretion of "BellyBuilders". In all cases, you have the option of what information in your account is publicly displayed. Furthermore, within your account, you have the option to opt-in or opt-out of automatically generated e-mails from the site.

Your password is ciphered (a one-way hash) so that it is secure. However, it is recommended that you do not reuse the same password across a number of different websites. Your password is the means of accessing your account at "BellyBuilders", so please guard it carefully and under no circumstance will anyone affiliated with "BellyBuilders", phpBB or another 3rd party, legitimately ask you for your password unless you specifically request assistance with account access - you should never be randomly asked for your password. If in doubt, email messageboard@bellybuilders.com with the request you received to confirm its validity.. Should you forget your password for your account, you can use the "I forgot my password" feature provided by the phpBB software. This process will ask you to submit your user name and your e-mail, then the phpBB software will generate a new password to reclaim your account.

When accessing the chat server - as with most IRC (the chat protocol) servers - your IP address will be available to other members of the chat. Whilst the site does not maintain logs of private or public chat conversations at this time within the chat server, individuals who are party to a particular conversation (Ie. present in channel, or the other end of a private IM session) are technologically able to log conversations and you should take this into account when chatting. Moderators may ask chat participants for chat transcripts when determining if a transgression has occurred and these transcripts may be shared between operators as required for moderation purposes.
